Event Details

Apple has changed the game again with the release of Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5. Get a headstart on using these ground-breaking applications with our hands-on, 4-day course taught by two of the most highly-regarded Apple Certified trainers in the business: Steve Martin and Mark Spencer.

 


Bonus Talks: At the end of each day, the Pixel Corps' Alex Lindsay will hold brief talks on:

  • Greenscreen Shooting for Interviews - Understand keying, lighting and set-up requirements to get great greenscreen footage for FCPX.

  • Basic Set Skills for Shooting - Learn the very basic skills that often make a big difference on a shoot.

  • Audio for Video - Learn the key elements of recording good audio for video interviews and productions.

  • Understanding Live Event Shooting - Learn about various pipelines and processes to capture and stream live events.

Prerequisites: Beginner knowledge of FCP 7, Motion 4 and/or iMovie '11

Hardware/Software Requirements: Macbook Pro with Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5 installed. For system requirements see http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/.

Meals: Continental breakfast and lunch are provided each day. There will be a BBQ dinner on Days 1 and 2.

Instructors

Steve Martin is the creative force behind Ripple Training and has been using and teaching Final Cut Pro since 1999. Since Final Cut Pro's introduction, he has introduced thousands of people to Final Cut Pro through his classes, workshops and training products.  He has consulted and/or trained for Apple, Adobe, Disney, Canon, Walmart and other companies. He is also a writer, producer and photographer and is a Master Trainer for Apple's Authorized Training (AATC) program.

Mark Spencer is a freelance editor, motion graphics artist, trainer and writer based in the Bay Area. His company Day Street Productions is a production and post studio focused on corporate video. He is an Apple-certified instructor for Final Cut Pro and Motion, teaching for organizations such as BAVC, Stanford University, DVExpo, MacWorld, and consulting for corporations and individuals. He is the author of the Apple Pro Training Series book "Motion Graphics and Visual Effects" from Peachpit Press and has written for print and online publications including DV Magazine, EditWell, ProVideo Coalition and kenstone.net. He maintains www.applemotion.net, a resource for Motion. Mark has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
